Service Dogs
Virginia Beach Goldendoodles is proud to announce....
Goldendoodle Service & Therapy Doodles!!! We no longer offer this training but many of our Goldendoodles have been & can be trained to be service/therapy dogs!
Did you know that Goldendoodles were originally bred to be service dogs??? Virginia Beach Goldendoodles is very proud to share that we have quite a few of our dogs working as service dogs in local hospitals, being read to by children in local schools and libraries, and proudly wearing service dog vest to help members of our community. Sadly, we no longer provide service dog training but are still breeding amazing Goldendoodles that lend themselves to be AMAZING service & therapy dogs!
Daisy, one of our Goldendoodles is a trained service dog for a 5th grade girl in Pittsburgh, PA. Daisy attends school, soccer games, and sleepovers. She alerts "her girl" over 500 feet away when blood sugar is not where it should be. What an incredible Virginia Beach Goldendoodle!!
One of our “Doods” is Babe - a service dog who’s changed the life of one special girl:
Her name is Babe, and what a babe she is! She is a gorgeous F1 Black Goldendoodle bred by Mark and Annesley Hackathorn in Virginia Beach, VA. Babe was purchased by the McCoy family for their handicapped daughter, Jenny. They wanted Jenny to have a friend and companion who could be with her 24/7. A super-sweet puppy, Babe was selected by Mark Hackathorn, a master dog trainer and owner of Tidewater K9 Academy as well as a Goldendoodle breeder.
It is inspiring to watch Babe doing what Goldendoodles were bred to do…..being of service to their owners!!!

Mark selected Babe on the basis of her temperament, intelligence, and size. Mark trained Babe with much help from the McCoys. On-leash training was followed by off-leash training, and finally, Babe was trained to be a service dog. Once Babe’s service dog vest is on and her lead is attached to Jen’s chair, Babe is all business, going to malls and restaurants. Babe has traveled from Virginia to Texas with Jen, and there are plans for a summer trip to Alaska.
Jenny and Babe are inseparable; Babe believes that she’s a 50 pound lap dog. She sleeps in Jenny’s room and has even “learned” to help Jenny get a shower. In spite of her Goldendoodle love for the water, Babe knows that only Jenny gets into the tub. It is heartwarming to see the mutual love that exists between Babe and the McCoys. It is awesome to see Jenny and Babe together.

We also have Annie, a gorgeous Virginia Beach Goldendoodle living with "her boy" in South Carolina. Annie can bring a juice box, if needed!!! What a smart, cute Goldendoodle!
Brooklyn, a young an amazing Goldendoodle is learning every day everything she needs to know to help her owner !!

Stuart Little, a trained therapy dog reading with school children.
